What is the first thing a person looks for when searching for a new job? After looking at the job title, most people look to see if the salary is worth the trouble of even applying. For years, Gilroy has been a place where educators come to get a few years of experience and then move on where the salaries are better. Salary is an important factor for recruiting early career educators.

Gilroy is a wonderful community with great students and supportive parents. Too often teachers who would benefit from these things never apply because the salaries offered by GUSD are some of the lowest in the county. The question arises, "Doesn't GUSD increase salaries?" Yes...and so does every other district.

Recruiting teachers is a competitive market. GUSD needs to make salaries a priority.

What if salaries improved?
