Salaries are a key to recruit highly qualified, certificated educators.
OUR proposal reflects a realistic increase to the current salary scale that will serve 3 main purposes:
1) Attract more teachers. The current pay scale does not bring in enough applicants.
2) Retain current teachers. Teaching has become a very difficult job and increasing pay is an incentive to stay in the profession.
3) Allow current teachers to be a part of the community. The low pay makes it difficult for teachers to afford housing in the town they serve.
